Art

I recently felt a wild hair I needed to scratch and other mixed metaphors when I inexplicably drove to Michael's Crafts store. The horror! My mama taught me to be afeared of any sort of craft - most especially learning to sew errant buttons from my pants. My name is Wendy and I'm intimidated by crafts.

That's why it was so strange that I couldn't wait another second before getting my hands on some paint. Having no idea what to buy I passed the styrofoam aisle and fake plantlife aisle to peruse all manner of paints. I browsed the instructional books and "starter kit" sets and then decided that I've taken lessons for everything I've learned in my whole life and I didn't want to do that right now. I just wanted to see what would happen from my own brain. I ended up choosing the Basics brand acrylic paint (for no reason but I'm now a big fan) and got blue, green, yellow, red, white, and black along with a canvas pad and a $1.99 set of 4 brushes.

Again, I'm surprised by how satisfying and fun it's been to mix up colors and put brush to cloth. Here's a snapshot of what I've made so far, including my award-winning feet:
