IS THERE A REASON I CAN'T EXCEL?
I know nothing about html or any form of coding or developing algorithms. I use blogger to blog, which eliminates most need for learning these things - it's all click on this little linky guy and paste in the website address you'd like to point out and stuff.

When working with microsoft excel today, I realized that this program has had minimal changes as far as I can tell since I started using it in the early 90's. I've never bothered to find out how to make excel work for me - I have to spend 15 minutes remembering how to automatically add columns every time I open the program. The thing is, it's not very user-friendly. Why have we made so many advances for consumers on the internet and self-publishing fronts when this integral part of any workday is still in the technological dark ages?

excel is in fact quite easy to use. just learn the basics of any office program and wammo you have a useful tool. now there are more advanced tricks that pony can do but you better get the basics first.

try something like photoshop or autocad and then you'll see that excel is quite basic.

yes, I don't question my ability to learn the bells and whistles of excel. But the program is not OBVIOUS like, say, blogging and posting photos online is. It seems like it would be easy enough to make it usable for even the most technologically challenged.

the problem with that is, people who know what they are doing on it would find all those instructions cumbersome and in the way. its much more efficient this way. besides, excel can do a million things unlike blogger which does one thing. it makes it easier to spell out every little thing to do on something that only does one thing. excel has an unlimited combination of commands that can be used to mess with numbers.

ok. I don't think excel and blogger are a one-for-one. I was just using it as an example. Would it be so hard to be able to click a basic or advanced button in the beginning so as not to upset those stuck in their ways?

i think mastering the basics in photoshop and other adobe programs is simpler than using excel. excel is ugly and not user-friendly. i hate excel.
