MAKING CHECKS ON THE "TO DO" LIST
Thanks to Gina B. for renting "I Am Trying To Break Your Heart," the Wilco documentary of the making of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. I've been wanting to see the film for a long time, so the anticipation for its greatness was built. The movie was a tad boring (in the same way watching a band record a record in real life is, unless there's an antique Elton John pinball machine, then it's great), and I was hoping for the members of the band to be a little better looking, but the story was one for the ages. Warner's Reprise rejected YHF and dropped Wilco only to turn around and buy the record back through Nonesuch at 3X the price. Bravo.
YHF is in HM's top 10 albums of the past 5 years, so it was good to hear the tunes as they were being created.
I'd like to know who produced the documentary (Reprise?), and when they decided to release it to the public.
